New Addition to the Damascus Family: The MAC-XP MSHA-approved Explosion-Proof

Corporation is proud to introduce the MAC-XP, the newest addition
to the Damascus family of products. The MAC-XP is a specially
designed personnel carrier that complies with the Mine Safety and
Health Administration’s Title 30 Code of Regulations Part 18, and
is approved as permissible for use in gassy underground mines. The
3-person MAC-XP carrier is rugged and dependable yet uncomplicated
and easy to maintain. This vehicle is designed to carry personnel
throughout the mine, including in-by areas where explosion- proof
equipment is required.
“We are
excited about offering the new MAC-XP to our customers. It is truly a customer-driven
product,” said sales representative Chuck Phibbs. “ The Mac-XP permissible car
is more than just MSHA approved. It offers some key features for additional safety,
reliability, and comfort.”
The Mac-XP
is the first Damascus product to incorporate the new, advanced 600 amp Sevcon
Powerpack controller. The controller is microprocessor-based with flexible software
and setup options; uses high frequency MOSFET power switching technology, and
is powerful; powerful enough to provide regenerative braking as an added safety
feature.
The MAC-XP
offers “SOFT-RIDE” air suspension for a smooth, comfortable ride. The SOFT-RIDE
system was introduced in the MAC-8DI diesel transporter and is a favorite feature
of miners. “We continually strive to improve our products and incorporating the
SOFT-RIDE system into the MAC-XP only made sense. The three point rubber mount
system makes a very durable suspension with a comfortable ride for passengers,”
said Walter Stewart, President of Damascus Corporation.
Other
features of this exceptional vehicle include a 10-horsepower explosion-proof motor
necessary in gassy areas and a removable 36-cell, 72-volt battery pack with 45/7
or optional 55/7 cells for easy change-out as needed.
